One Video, Every Format: How AI Transforms a Single Video into Multiple Visual Experiences
From Fixed Formats to Flexible Video
How Video Formats Traditionally Limited Creativity
For most of the history of video production, the format of a video was determined at the time of recording. Creators had to choose between flat video, fisheye lenses, 360-degree cameras, or specialized dome rigs before a project even began. Each format required different hardware and workflows, making it difficult and expensive to reuse the same content across platforms. Once a video was recorded, adapting it to another format often meant reshooting or abandoning the idea entirely, which limited experimentation and scalability.

How AI Changed Video Format Conversion
Artificial intelligence removed this dependency on hardware by introducing format conversion at the post-production stage. Instead of treating video as fixed frames, AI analyzes the scene, estimates depth, and reconstructs spatial information. This allows a single video to be converted into multiple formats such as 180-degree, 360-degree, fisheye, cubemap, and dome projections after recording. As a result, creators can now shoot once and decide later how and where the video will be experienced.
