What to expect : Video to VR video

Here’s the stripped-down, no-fluff version what software does:

  1. Projection: Flat (16:9) → Spherical (2:1 equirectangular)
  2. Perspective: Fixed view → Look around freely (360° control)
  3. Metadata: Added so players (like YouTube) recognize it as VR
  4. Quality: Higher resolution & bitrate for clarity in all directions
  5. Field of View: Limited (~90°) → Full 360° coverage
  6. Depth (optional): Adds 3D feel via SBS or AI depth

AI reconstruction of missing 360 degree view (Feature with limited availablility)

How to test the Output

Analysis tool used for videos: https://mediaarea.net/MediaInfoOnline

If the conversion has been done successfully:

✔️ Transformations Applied

  1. Resolution upscaling (1080p → 3840×1920 or similar)
  2. Conversion to equirectangular layout (2:1 aspect ratio)
  3. Injection of spherical (VR) metadata (drag the view in VR compatible playback channels)
  4. Bitrate adjustment (usually increase)
  5. Codec optimization/change

Understanding the Output

It is important to clarify what constitutes “VR conversion”:

🎯 There are two interpretations:

1. True VR Creation (Advanced)

Requires:

  1. Multi-camera capture OR AI reconstruction
  2. Depth estimation
  3. Multi-directional scene generation

2. VR-Compatible Formatting (What is done here)

Includes:

  1. Mapping video into equirectangular projection
  2. Embedding VR metadata
  3. Making file playable in VR players

The software performs:

VR-compatible formatting and encoding transformation
